Stroud Half Marathon - In Memory of Poppy and Amalie
“I am due to run (and hopefully finish) the Stroud 1/2 marathon on October 21st 2007. This is my first ever attempt at any serious running and I am slightly worried about finishing it having had a look at the likely course. However, I am doing the run for a very good reason, so I will turn up on the day and I will finish (hopefully in under 2 hours).
I am running in memory of my twin daughters Poppy and Amalie who were born extremely prematurely on the 19th March this year and who both unfortunately did not survive. The charity I am collecting for is Scoo-B-Doo which is for the Special Babycare unit at Gloucester Hospital where Amalie spent 8 days. I know that the staff at the unit did everything they could to help and support Jo and myself at the time and so I would like to give something back to help others in the future who have go to through similar experiences”.
Simon did run and finish the marathon (his time was 1 hour 41 minutes) and he raised £2,246. Well done Simon!
